Purpose

Because of the formation and planning required for the celebration of the Sacrament of Matrimony, couples are required to contact the priest at least SIX MONTHS prior to their intended wedding date.  This meeting can be scheduled by contacting the parish office.

At the first of several meetings with a priest, the wedding date can be set based on the couple's goal, the priest's availability, the church availability, and other parish facility availability (such as the reception hall), if needed.

In addition to preparation sessions with the priest, the engaged couple can be referred to a married Sponsor Couple in the parish, to the Engaged Encounter retreat and to Natural Family Planning and/or "Theology of the Body" formation.  

Likewise, to plan music for the wedding and secure an organist, the parish music coordinator should be contacted at least 6 months prior to the wedding date.
